Cordon tape seals off an active crime scene.

DEARBORN – The Dearborn Police Department and the FBI-Violent Crimes Task Force have apprehend Abdulawahab Ahmed Musleh for a June armed robbery in Dearborn and have connected him with other armed robberies in the area.

On Wednesday, June 15, around 3 p.m., the Dearborn Police Department responded to a call about an armed robbery at a business located in the 6300 block of Chase. The suspect reportedly entered the business and produced a handgun. He then allegedly demanded money from the register while firing a gunshot into the ceiling.

The suspect also robbed patrons before fleeing the area in a black BMW.

On Thursday, June 16, police say that after a swift and thorough joint investigation they arrested Musleh and recovered critical evidence.

Further investigation information connected Musleh to additional armed robberies in the Metro Detroit area, including a recent armed robbery of another Dearborn business located in the 14200 block of Ford Rd on Friday, June 3.

Musleh was arraigned on federal charges on Tuesday, June 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

“Within 24 hours of this alleged crime, this individual was safely captured,” Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said. “This demonstrates that we will continue to use all available resources to protect our community from acts of violence that threaten the lives and livelihoods of our residents.”

“This investigation, leading to the quick arrest of the defendant, highlights the value and effectiveness of working collaboratively with our law enforcement partners to combat violent criminals,” said James A. Tarasca, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Detroit Division. “We are grateful to the Dearborn Police Department for participating in, and working alongside, the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force to protect the Dearborn community.”
